It arrived and I just can remove the impeller to access the shaft seal. How do I remove the impeller? Thank you for your question. The impeller is attached to the shaft by a nut. You will need to hold the shaft still in order to get the impeller off. To reach the shaft, remove the rear motor cover and the screws and then carefully pry the fan from the motor, rotating as you go. Use a 14mm socket or wrench to hold the shaft stationary while you remove the 17mm nut from the other side of the pump. To remove the impeller, remove the lock washer underneath the nut and the flat washer underneath the lock washer. You will need to keep track of how the parts are arranged so you can reassemble them later. Once the lock washer is removed slide the impeller off of the shaft. Remove the key from the keyway on the shaft and set it aside. Using snap ring, spread the retaining ring apart and pull it off of the shaft. Remove the flat washer located under the retaining ring and pry the seal off of the shaft with a flat head screw driver. Follow the steps in reverse to install the new impeller. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day! Thank you for your question. If the pump has lost its prime and it runs for an extended period of time it can become damaged.http://www.conspekt.com/upload/fck/file/ferris-is3000z-service-manual.xml

Add an item to your cart to see them all. This unit is not submerged - it is used to deliver water from a large tank into a small pressure tank. Any suggestions on how to take it off please How To Remove Stubborn Impellers Replacement is a week away. Can't wait a week for water. Thanks in advance. I need to know at what pressures the pressure switch should turn the pump on and off. Yes, it does sound like your pit is too small. A small pit is bad for the pump too because if it is raining hard, your pit will fill very quickly. Now when the pump runs, it will empty very quickly. The site lists a FP4022-10 pump with the direct link to the manual here. For this type of pump, there should be a priming plug or priming tee. Remove the plug (or tee) and pour water into the pump. Keep adding water until the pump and all of the piping to the well is full of water. If a priming plug or tee was also added on the suction side of the pump, open that section and fill all of the piping on the suction side with water. Start the pump. After 2-3 minutes, turn off the pump if no water has come through the unit. Add more water through the priming plug or tee (or multiple plugs and tees). Then repeat closing the priming ports and start the pump after opening a faucet. Once the pump is actually pumping water, turn off the open faucet. Wait for the pump to shut off once it reaches full pressure. Open one or two faucets to check that the pump is properly sensing the pressure changes and maintaining system water pressure. If the unit didn't pull water from the well, check the piping for air leaks. See the full trouble-shooting guide in the manual. Page 9 has the priming information and page 10 has the trouble-shooting guide. I hope this helps. Cindy WellsI tried to post a picture but website is experiencing issues. It consists of two ceramic faces that are held together with a spring: What could be the problem? Move the switch up and down and see if it comes on and push down to go off. It probably just needs setting. There should be a screw to set it.Check the impeller for any blockage. You probably will have to pull the foot valve and clean or replace it. Because of cost I would suggest getting a qualified repair person to check it out.If it does not fill there is a leak in the llines going to the foot valve or the foot valve is leaking.Answer questions, earn points and help others. Join with our mailing list to receive exclusive offers and coupons. This small but important part of the pump will not work when it is clogged. It resembles a little propeller or fan, based in its own chamber, close to the base of the pump. Debris like small stones, hairs and fibers, get inside the chamber. The impeller cannot revolve and expel water, via the discharge pipe. Wash the impeller in clean water, preferably under a running faucet. Put the cleaned impeller back into its chamber. Tighten the screws. Reassemble the base of the pump, put the screws back in and tighten them. Re-submerge the pump into the sump basin and reconnect the discharge pipe. Switch the pump on and test to see if the water level subsides. Change Float Switch Switch off the pump and remove the plug from the socket. Unscrew the float chamber at the top of the pump and remove the top. Make a note of the layout of the wires inside. You can then rewire the replacement more easily if you have it mapped out. Pull the wires away from their attachment and unscrew the existing switch. Put the replacement switch in the same place as the original and reconnect the wiring. Replace the top of the float chamber and tighten the screws. Return the pump to the basin, reattach the discharge pipe and switch the power back on to test it. Keep your Flotec instruction manual in a convenient and easily accessible place. Keep it covered and free from debris. Warnings Make sure your hands are dry before touching the switch. Shaft with ceramic sleeve at wear point and double nbr lip seals. By turning or by prying it?First replace the through bolts in the motor. These are the long bolts, they will just cause headachs. On the back of the motor their will be a place to hold the shaft from turning, If you hold the shaft the impeller just unscrews. If you look in the center of the impeller it may have a set screw holding it to the shaft. If you have one of these it will be a left hand screw. Then you will need to break the impeller free as the brass that holds the impeller on will stick to the stainless steel of the shaft. Don't let how tight this is fool you when you put this back together it just goes on hand tight. Good luck Login to post Other method is to hold it by the impeller while someone takes a brass punch and a hammer and gently hit the end of the shaft to knock it free. Try to avoid damaging the shaft or you will have to dress the shaft up to get the new impeller on.Or hold it by the impeller and have someone tap the end of the shaft with a brass punch. The impeller has RH threads so hold motor armature (do not damage it) and turn impeller CCW to remove it from end of shaft. Hold armature in left hand and rotate impeller with right hand, turning hand on impeller back toward your body, or top of impeller toward you. Don't know how else to describe it. Once you have the impeller off everything should come apart pretty easily. If impeller is really stuck, you will need to figure out how to hold it evenly all the way around without putting pressure on blades. Strap wrench, home made jig, something that can put more pressure on it than your hand. You may want to remove the motor field so that you can grasp the armature while removing the impeller, do this by removing the long screws from the end of the motor. Gently pry, tap, slide, however you can, get the bearings off the armature shaft without damaging any parts attached to it like fans, or starter centrifugal weights. Those things can be removed if needed. Put new bearings on by sliding over shaft and seating in place by driving against the center race only. Do not drive bearing on by striking the outer race to move the inner race, this will damage the bearing. If so remove and clean the pump and check the spraying arms specially if the arms are not moving faster. Please check this link for tips to clean: That will expose the impeller. At the other end of the pump is a small metal cap in the middle. Pry that off with a screwdriver. That reveals the shaft of the motor which has a slot in it. This allows you to hold the shaft still with a large screwdriver. While someone holds the shaft with a big screwdriver, you rotate the impeller counter clockwise to unscrew it off the motor shaft. In my case the impeller was so caked onto the shaft with rust that we could not loosen it. We broke the impeller and still could not unscrew it. The screwdriver keeps jumping out of the slot in the shaft. So the next step was to take the shaft out of the motor. On the far end of the motor are 4 small looking bolt heads. Undo those. They go right through the motor into the 4 legs of the wet end. Stand the motor up with the wet end up. Pull hard to pull the wet end motor cover off the motor and you will then have the wet end and armature of the motor in your hands. Heavy. Place some wood into a large vice and then grip the big silver part of the armature in the vice. Then unscrew the impeller. Bearing at end with power cord turns freely. Bearing against the pump hardly turns. How do you remove the pump and get to the bearing to replace. Should the pump be replaces as. How old is it? Can the impeller even be removed from the shaft without breaking it. Basically to change the motor bearings you must remove the 10-16 screws on the wet end. Remove the cap you just unscrewed. While locked onto the shaft, turn the impeller counterclockwise until removed. Note: some impellers have a set screw in the center of the impeller. If you have one, it is reverse thread and must be removed by turning clockwise.) If you are unable to get the impeller off of the shaft, you might as well buy a whole new pump. These pumps are a few hundred dollars, but if you have to purchase a new motor, a new impeller, and a new shaft seal at the very least, then the cost is right up there with a new pump. If you can remove the impeller, keep reading. With the impeller removed and the through bolts removed, the wet end should now seperate from the motor. To remove the bearings, we must seperate the front faceplate from the motor housing by taking a large flathead screwdriver to the small flat notch in between the plate and the motor housing. Pry in small even incriments all the way around the plate to remove this safely. Once this is done, the bearing can be removed. For this we need a good quality bearing puller (these can be expensive and if you dont own one this is another reason to buy a new pump.) Lock the 2 arms of the bearing puller around the outside of the bearing, and lock the center pin on the shaft and turn clockwise to remove. Place the bearing on the shaft and fit the electrical conduit on top of it, making sure to only apply pressure to the RACE of the bearing (the inside track) tap lightly until the new bearing is in place. Once this is done, reverse these instructions to reassemble. This makes it near impossible to un screw the impeller. You can try and isolate the armature of the motor and use a channel lock on the impeller. The only other way to get it off is by breaking it. Use a flat head screwdriver and a hammer and break apart the area around the center of the impeller until you can pry off the everything but the stem. You'll have to remove the ceramic part of the seal and pick out as much of the stem as you can. Then you can get the wetend off the motor and remove the metal cup seal. Then it just drops in (while trying to hold on to it the best you can to keep it from slamming in.). New bearings didn't come with the new impeller. If not you will have to carefully pry out the old bearing from inside the housing. There is a start cap (usually black) on the left side held in place with a clamp. Use a phillips to loosen the clamp. DONT TOUCH ANYTHING that looks like a terminal, and be careful of the centrifical switch on the end of the shaft. Move the cap out of the way. I hope this helps youThe instructions were molded into the plastic pump housing. This is how I DID MINE: Remove motor mount screws. Remove the chopper screw (screw only goes into impeller, not motor shaft). Place socket or wrench on impeller tip and place another wrench on rear of motor's plastic fan. Unscrew fan from impeller shaft ( threads are LEFT handed, turn CW). Don't crack the delicate plastic pump housing. Mine was stuck, but separated with moderate force. This worked for MY above mentioned model, I don't know what other models it applies to. I am not a pro. There looks like there is some corrosion. Can this be rebuilt or can I change a seal? We changed the voltage to 115 on the pump because we were plugged into a 115volt outlet but still no water pressure. Answer questions, earn points and help others.
